Barcode VS QR Code - Which One is Batter Bar Code or QR Code

This blog will discuss the complete analysis between bar codes and QR codes. After reading this blog, you can choose which is the right option for you? You will learn about the differences between barcodes and QR codes.

In a manufacturing business, tracking and managing product records is the basic need of the manufacturer. For this purpose, bar codes and QR codes are invented. But the question is, which is batter, bar code vs. QR code (quick response code)? To find the answer to this question, read this blog.

Bar Code

A bar code is a type of code in which information is stored in a horizontal line. Bar code is an old way of labeling products; in a bar code, data is stored more than 100 characters and numeric values in the form of horizontal thick and thin lines. Moreover, the barcode is scanned in a bar. This implies that the data is restricted to what can fit in that single stretch of bars.

This technology is designed and based on Morse code technology, developed in the 1950s. If a manufacturer wants to store more information, then they have to increase the number of bars that is not suitable.

Additionally, barcodes are only read by a specific scanner, and this quality is good for only small stores or limited inventory businesses. In recent times, bar code has limited scope because many companies need other quick and practical ways of labeling and tracking systems.

Bare code can only be scanned from left to right when scanning strips. If a bar code is damaged from its side, even slightly damaged, the scanner cannot be able to scan. The Barcode inventory system is more accurate than the manual management system.

QR Code (Quick Response Code)

QR code is a type of code in which information is stored in the form of dots and squares. It’s a new way of labeling and storing valuable information, especially inventory management. QR code is also known as matrix code.

This technology was created using Morse code technology and developed in 1994. Compared to a barcode, it holds more data.  Data is stored in the form of dots and squares in horizontal and vertical formats.

Moreover, in a QR code, almost 7089 alphabets, numeric characters, or text are stored in the form of information. Information is stored in quick code in the form of Name, Address, Contact number, short message, and other information like logo, price, etc.

Furthermore, a QR code is not only scanned by the QR scanner device, but a person can also scan it through a mobile QR scanner app or simply from a mobile phone camera. We can store more data than a bar code by using a QR code.

Another benefit of using a QR code, it has a quality of scanning in 360 degrees, which means QR code can be scanned from any side. If a QR code damages even 30 percent, it will be checked easily. This quality makes it a unique and best choice.

Conclusion

to summarize, both codes have many benefits, but the QR code is a more efficient and valuable way of labeling products or storing information. Barcode is also good, but QR code is the best option for inventory management. Both of them are based on morse code technology.

Barcodes store limited information in the form of a horizontal bar. On the other hand, QR codes store more data in horizontal and vertical dots and squares. Bar code is only scanned by scanning bars from left to right, but we can scan QR codes in a 360 degree. Furthermore, if a bar code is damaged, it cannot be checked, but if a QR code is damaged up to 30 percent, it can be easily scanned.

So, it is clear from all these characteristics that a QR code is better and more efficient than a bar code. It gives faster scanning than bar code scanning. Hence, in manufacturing products and other businesses, you must prefer a QR code to a bar code.
